Laundry Aide
Reports to: Housekeeping Supervisor
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be knowledgeable in and demonstrate the ability to assure the laundry area is maintained in a clean, safe manner, and that laundry and linen supplies are readily available to meet the daily needs of the residents. Requires prolonged standing, frequent stretching, bending and lifting. Requires pushing of soiled linen and clean linen carts.
- Education: High School graduate or GED preferred.
- Experience: Prior laundry experience preferred.
- Certificate/Licenses: None

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Laundry Aide is responsible for performing the activities stipulated in this job description or any other duties that are assigned by the Shift Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The employee must be able to perform these essential functions with or without a reasonable accommodation by the employer, without posing a direct threat to himself/herself or to others. (This list may not include all of the duties.)
- Collect, sort and wash soiled laundry, linens and garments.
- Separate out all items that require special stain removal and treatment.
- Collect resident personal soiled laundry and wash appropriately.
- Maintain laundry nametags on resident laundry (specific to facility policy).
- Fold, sort, and distribute clean laundry and linens.
- Press or iron linens as necessary.
- Press or iron resident’s laundry as necessary and hang on hangers.
- Distribute resident personal laundry appropriately.
- Inventory linens – pull stained, threadbare or frayed linens from daily circulation.
- Replace washing chemicals as needed. (May require some lifting of heavy dispensers.)
- Maintain resident laundry area in an organized manner.
- Maintain infection control standards of practice.
- Push soiled and clean linen carts.
