Activities/Recreation Assistant
Reports to: Activities Director
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
- Knowledge, Skill and Ability: Ability to assist in planning, developing, organizing and implementing of the activity program under the supervision of the Activity Director. Ability is required in English grammar in both reading and writing. Requires frequent bending, stooping, stretching and lifting. Requires driving the facility van. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. Certification as Activity Assistant desirable.
- Experience: Previous experience in the recreation field preferred.
- Certificate/Licenses: (1) Activity certification preferred (2) valid driver’s license required.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the facility Activities Director in developing and maintaining a high quality activities program that will satisfy the interests and needs of the residents.

- Assist in planning, developing, organizing, and implement the activities program.
- Meet with the Activities Director for planning activities.
- Develop and maintain good working rapport with other departments within the facility and network with outside community agencies.
- Assist in the development of, and participation in, regularly scheduled in-service training programs.
- Assist in the arrangement and escort of residents with field trips whenever necessary.
- Assist in the recording and maintaining records of resident’s participation in activities.
- Maintain CONFIDENTIALITY of all pertinent resident care information to assure residents rights are protected.
- Assist with the maintenance of the Volunteer Program.
- Report any changes in the resident’s condition immediately to the Resident Care Department.
- Report all incidents/accidents immediately.
- Assist in the scheduling of outside activities and groups for the residents.
- Recommend to the Activities/Recreation Director the equipment and supply needs of the department.
- Arrange and assist the residents with the “store”.
